Bushel Baskets in White

I have had a hard time finding bushel baskets but was able to snag a few at some garage sales in the past few weeks for under $2.00. I love them because I use them in my house for added storage while decorating with a vintage theme.

Bushel baskets were originally used to measure grains in Europe. They have been used to measure multiple other dry commodities but are quickly being replaced with lovely cardboard boxes.

I remember my Mom picking up bushels of peaches and tomatoes to can.

I decided to dress these baskets in white with a white wash I made. It was a fast and slick paint job. White wash is a paint with a high water ratio. I have other pieces to white wash and will break it down to show you how its done. Its the easiest thing you'll ever do!

I wanted to show these beautiful peonies that bloomed a few weeks ago. I love them and wished they would last  longer. They are just like the lilacs I love. You have to enjoy them before they are gone!

This year I had over 15 blooms! AND........ the deer left them alone this year!
I need to frame these pictures and keep them up all year so I can see them every day! Have a good one!

    1. Thank you for visiting! It is good to hear from you at Rivercrest Cottage! Keep an eye out for them. It would even work to white wash any old basket. Visit me again!

  3. Love the white wash. I found several bushel baskets last year but mine were taller. I turned one into a light to sale at a community market that I do.

    Nice visiting with you tonight.
