Life after Laundry: Two Toned Chalk Paint

I'm feeling the summer sun and loving it! I have been spending quality time with family while fishing and camping. After two weeks of family reunions my house was feeling the effects of packing and unpacking..... packing and unpacking!!

I'm talking about a lot of laundry!

Finally... I got in the DIY mode and finished a few projects today. This was a two toned paint project that I used a new technique on.

With the dark wood already as a base I had a plan in mind.

I grabbed a few cans of paint and my brush and got to work.

I lightened a blue hue I had on hand and mixed up a batch of chalk paint.

I kinda liked this bright blue but it wasn't what I had planned. Next I mixed a chalk paint white wash and lightly brushed a few coats on top of the blue.

After the no time at all to dry I used my 100 grit sandpaper to reveal the blue undertone as well as roughing it up to the dark base of the wood.

I love it when a piece of furniture has a little character to help transform it into an interesting piece.

One more technique I used while white washing this was  wiping off a bit of the white when it was still damp. This gave it a really neat look on the top surfaces.

It makes a perfect little accent table or night stand with a lower shelf for books or a storage basket.

You can find this table on the SHOP page here

Also here is a sneak peak of what else I've been working on.
