I was looking through my pictures the other day and found a picture of my entertainment center I bought from a friend last year. It was an all black three piece center that was really nice except for the color. I like white so much because it lets my small home feel more open. I loaded it up in the back of my van... (yes the whole thing fit!) and drove it to my Dad's shop to paint it.
This was my supply list:
- White Dove from Benjamin Moore
- Zinnser Cover Stain Primer
- Foam Roller
- Foam Paint Brushes
- Paint Pan
- Screwdriver
- Ziploc Baggies
Let me tell you about Zinsser Cover Stain Primer. It worked great for what I had to do. This center was not all real wood and had a lot of laminate. The Zinsser primer covered it really well leaving it with a good bonding base to paint with my White Dove paint color. The White Dove is just a pretty off white with a touch of cream to it.
With my handy screwdriver I took off all the hardware, shelves, and doors. I put the hardware in a baggie and sat it in a "safe place" so I wouldn't loose the important parts to put it back together. After two coats of primer I put a couple coats of White Dove letting it dry in between coats.
These are the only two " in action " pictures I took. Lets just say I was in a hurry to get it done because I had little ones at my feet and winter was approaching too fast to have to worry about making a fire in the shop stove.
This is how it turned out in my house. Little improvements need to be made like fixing the backdrop for the TV. I don't like the looks of the cut out lines. The doors need one more coat. Also I have burlap panels to hang in front of the two black speakers below the TV. Like I said the more black I can get rid of the better. You see that "black" gun safe in the corner... it's there for life and I just have to deal with it. It does have a good little flat space on top though that I can decorate!
One step at a time.
Here's one more look.

It was a bit of a big job Brooke but it needed to be done. I need to fix a few things on it though. Do you have any suggestions for the back of the TV area. Maybe I just need a bigger TV ha ha!
DeleteTotally agree...just get a bigger TV!! But if you didn't want to do that I would put new beadboard on the back! Thank you for linking up!
